Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at office@crescentpsychology.com.au

if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Not at all. At Crescent Psychology you are more than welcome to book a private consultation without having to visit your GP.

  • You may be eligible for a rebate from your Private Health Insurance Provider depending on your cover. Please speak to your provider to check if you’re covered for psychological services.
  • To access Medicare, you will need a referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP prior to your first appointment. Please refer to our Session Fees section for more information.

For many clients, sessions may attract a rebate from Medicare if you have been referred by your GP with a Mental Health Treatment Plan. We are not a bulk-billing service. Please refer to our Session Fees section for more information.

A Mental Health Treatment (Care) Plan is written by a GP and entitles you to 10 Medicare rebated sessions per year. To get a Mental Health Treatment Plan, book in to see your GP and discuss your mental health difficulties. They will decide if you are eligible and would benefit from a Treatment Plan. They can forward your referral to office@crescentpsychology.com.au

Please refer to our Session Fees section for more information. Online bookings require a $50 deposit which will be held in the event of a late cancellation.

Appointments are available business hours Monday to Friday.

Most sessions run for 50 minutes from your scheduled appointment time. Some clients may prefer a shorter session for various reasons and at Crescent Psychology we offer a Brief Consultation (20-30 minutes) if required.

The number of sessions for each individual will vary and depend on your needs and goals. Medicare rebates are available for up to 10 sessions a year.

Appointments will be conducted over the phone or via videoconferencing with a reliable internet connection.

If the connection is interrupted, or lost, the consultation will be continued by telephone or another appointment time will be booked.

All telehealth consultations are private, confidential and adhere to the same clinical standards as face-to-face consultations. Please ensure you are in a private space to attend your appointment.

If your appointment needs to be rescheduled, we will organise a new date and time. Please contact us if you are unable to attend or need to reschedule your appointment with 48 hours notice to avoid a cancellation fee. See our Client Consent Form for more information.

Yes, our policy is in place due to the high demand for appointments. If you cancel within 48 hours of your appointment there is not enough time to give the appointment to someone else, therefore you will be subject to a $50 cancellation fee. This fee will be retained from your booking fee. See our Client Consent Form for more information.
